has committed not to sell Frankenchickens

Waitrose is signed up to the Better Chicken Commitment - which prohibits Frankenchickens - and is on track to meet its commitment by August 2025.

However, most of the other major UK supermarkets - including Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, Iceland, Morrisons, Co-op, Asda, and Sainsbury’s - continue to use Frankenchickens. Frankenchickens are bred to grow unnaturally fast, meaning they live short, painful lives. At just a few weeks old, many can no longer stand under their own body weight. Instead, they are forced to lie in their own waste.
