Fast-growing Frankenchicken

Take Action

Demand an end to cruelly-bred Frankenchickens

More than 500 million chickens are bred to suffer each year in the UK for major supermarkets including Co-op, Lidl, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Aldi, Morrisons, Asda, and Iceland. Tell these supermarkets to stop the suffering now.

I would like to receive emails from The Humane League UK with updates on campaigns, ways to support us, and quick actions I can take for animals.*

Supermarkets could change everything for chickens

Supermarkets are responsible for hundreds of millions of chickens sold in the UK each year. But currently, with the exception of M&S and Waitrose, they are choosing to sell cruelly-bred Frankenchickens who grow so unnaturally fast that many die from injury or disease at just a few weeks old.

Chickens are intelligent, sensitive individuals who feel fear and pain every bit as much as our beloved pets. No animal deserves to lie in their own waste or live in chronic pain. That's why we're demanding that all UK supermarkets sign up to the Better Chicken Commitment now, a science-based welfare standard which would stop the use and abuse of Frankenchickens for good.
